Grass Gallery, our latest North Adams pop-up venue, is now in hibernation insofar as DAS is concerned, but it continues to be part of the North Adams scene as we plan more 2012 projects. If Facebook is your thing, you can still follow Grass Gallery there.

Recent Projects Include:

A letterpress/printmaking marathon weekend we co-organized with PRESS Gallery in North Adams, culminating in a benefit exhibition that opened January 26th and ran through March 25th.

"The Little People From Here", in tandem with "The Art of Dissent" - The magical work of Claire Fox shows alongside woodcuts from the ASARO Collective of Oaxaca, Mexico.

"End of an Empire" - A juried survey of anti-war art. This exhibition garnered an enthusiastic public response with its critique of United States military policy since the end of the Cold War in 1991.

"The North Adams Downtown Makeover", in which we re-envisioned the physical space of North Adams, currently an accumulation of ill-advised "urban renewal" decisions, as the ideal of a very small city.

Avalon Seafood Gallery, our previous pop-up venue, which presented six shows in the 2009 Summer season and four shows in the 2010 Summer season. Avalon Seafood was conceived with a dual purpose: provide a venue to promote new and experimental painting, and present an example of smart urban renewal, retaining and improving a late 19th-century storefront in a small city that's very much in revival.

Our pop-up galleries have been produced in conjunction with DownStreet Art, a program using the arts to rehabilitate existing spaces and revitalize local economies.

Davis Art Services formed in 2006 in Los Angeles, where we organized several definitive shows, including "strata" at the Beverly Hills galleries of Sotheby's. Since Summer 2008, we have been based in North Adams, MA, operating independent galleries and producing professional exhibitions of work by artists from all over the globe. We want to produce the most exciting shows of the best, most challenging independent artists working today. We are always scouting new locations for short-term exhibitions. Please reach out if you know a space that might be right for one of our shows. We're very into the whole adapative re-use thing and have turned around some fairly ugly-duckling spaces and made them shine for our projects.
